Be careful with stories like these. The websites that promote teeth whitening products like Lucent White are not news sites. The subject to the story was how to deal with the recession. One tip was to use free samples of teeth whitening products rather than go to the dentist. Allegedly, one could save by only using free samples and paying for shipping and handling.
The only problem is, both products reviewed, Dazzle and Clean Whites, are actually membership sales which means that "free sample" signs the buyer up for continuing shipments which are far from free.
The ad has the usual story about the woman with dirty, brown teeth who could not afford professional teeth whitening. As always, she learns about a way to use coupon codes online to get free samples.
The two "free" products have to be used together, or they are not affective. What this does is trap the buyer into two membership programs with high monthly fees. In this case the buyer is advised to click on the Dazzle White and Clean White links, use the provided coupon codes and get their "free samples" and pay only shipping and handling.
I clicked in the Clean Whites link as I am already familiar with the Dazzle White sales pitch. The sign up page asked buyers to sign up for their free 14 day trial. However, if you check out the Terms and Conditions hidden at the very bottom of the page in small print, you can see the real cost of Clean Whites.

Before she quit blogging, Alicia did tell us about her two favorite products - Brite Teeth Pro and Denta White. We have reviewed Denta White several times, but let's find out about Brite Teeth Pro.
Of course, Alicia confesses in her blog that she drinks lots of staining coffee and wine and use to have a problem with cigarettes, all of which left her teeth brown and dingy. She even includes convincing photos of her teeth.

Cathy, another "mom" is advertising the way she found white teeth for only a few dollars. Read the whole article though before believing everything she says.
Cathy is featured in another advertisement for white teeth made to look like a news website, this one called "US Consumer Reports". Cathy is actually advertising for two teeth whitening products, Dazzle White and Denta White.
Cathy claims in the ad that she saved money by ordering and "using nothing but free trial* offers and paying just a few dollars in shipping charges".
Cathy goes on to explain she had dingy brown teeth but was short on cash and that the teeth whitening companies needed customers because of the recession and so they are giving out free trials for shipping and handling costs only.
In fact, Cathy claimed she got both Denta White and Dazzle White for the combined low price of less than $3.00.
However, clicking on the Denta White and Dazzle White links and reading the fine print, we find out the costs are much higher!
Denta White, according to the Terms and Conditions normally charges $4.97 for shipping and handling. Even with the provided coupon however, the next shipment will be automatically charged to the buyer at - $92.37 - unless the buyer cancels within 10 days of signing up for the product online.

White Teeth Scam: Vibrant Whitening
I found an ad online for Dazzle White Pro and Vibrant Whitening. What struck me was the following line..
to get one full "super" whitening, comparable to what you might attain at a local dentist for $400 or more, using nothing but free trial* offers and paying just a few dollars in shipping charges.
The idea behind these teeth whitening ads is to sell buyers a product. Unlike something one would buy in the store however, these white teeth companies use something called "negative option" when selling the product.
A buyer signs up for Vibrant Whitening and Dazzle White Pro thinking they are getting a free trial and are only liable for shipping and handling.
However, the ads carefully hide in small print and or at the bottom of the sign up page that the buyer is actually signing up for a membership which includes monthly shipments of the teeth whitening products.
The buyer is responsible for the monthly charges which may be as much as $90.00 per product per month. With these offers generally including two products, the monthly charges with shipping and handling may be as much as $200.00.
What's more is that other products are "piggy backed" onto the deal as well. These products include buyers clubs or wellness clubs. These also have monthly charges as well. To make matters more difficult, disattisfied customers have to contact multiple companies to cancel their memberships and purchases of these teeth whitening products.
Vibrant Whitening, Dazzle Pro and Dentech are three of the teeth whitening companies selling their products with "negative options" purchase plans.
Due to the glut of advertising and the promise of a low cost, the marketing of these products is questionable. If any of these three teeth whitening products work for you and you do not mind paying such a high price, then feel free to use them.

White Teeth Scam: Free Dazzle White?
I found this ad on MSNBC while reading the news today. The website went by the name, "American Derma Society" which sure made it sound official. The only problem is "derma" refers to skin, not teeth. I guess the American Dental Society website was already taken. Oh well, close enough.
When I reached the website, it was not done up as an official medical website, but instead was something called "News9, World News 9, Your News Online". The old news site trick. Works well, thats why the keep doig it.
The ad claims that the cost to whiten teeh at a dentist is $400-500.00. While the cost to whiten teeth at home: 0?.
This is misleading because it infers that whitening teeth at home may cost nothing, when nothing is further from the truth.
The ad goes on to claim that DazzleWhite was temporarily offering a month's supply for free. Hmmm..
"Jamie Harlee", a character depicted in the ad, who is addicted to cigarettes and coffee and has the teeth to prove it. There is a picture on the website.
Jamie claims excellent results from DazzleWhite and claims that we can try DazzleWhite for free. So let's check out the product!
First, I checked the Terms of Service with DazzleWhite. The product is not free. If you sign up for the trial period, you have to pay shipping and handling.
A few days later, your credit card will be hit for three separate monthly fees:
$58.76, 3.24 and 7.14. That is a very expensive "FREE" product.
Again, if you choose to use DazzleWhite and don't mind paying these costs, that is your right. However, if you are considering purchasing from one of these websites, please be aware of the high costs, carefully located in the Terms of Service.
